Guiding You Through The Probate Process

Probate is the formal process of administering an estate when someone dies with or without a will. This can be a challenging process, especially if the will is disputed or if an estate executor is not aware of all of his or her responsibilities. At Mark Sank & Associates, LLC, we will guide you through the probate process. We will help you meet the legal probate requirements while assisting with the distribution of a loved one’s estate according to his or her wishes.

We have more than 30 years of experience that we will put to work assisting you with all probate matters. Contact our law office at 203-967-1190 to schedule a free 30-minute consultation with one of our Stamford probate lawyers to discuss your needs.

What Is Involved In Probate?

When a person dies, the family is in charge of identifying and locating assets, paying any outstanding debts and taxes, and distributing the estate according to the will, or according to Connecticut Statutes if there is no 2ill. This entire estate administration process is overseen by the probate court to ensure that all obligations are met and that the assets are distributed appropriately according to the wishes of the decedent.

An estate executor will be appointed if one is not already designated in the will. It is the responsibility of an executor to take control of the property and assets and pay the creditors. He or she will inform the beneficiaries of their inheritance and distribute the assets. Our firm will assist estate executors in fulfilling their fiduciary duties. Our goal is to make it easier for them by helping with the legal matters involved, particularly the many documents required to be filed with the probate court and tax authorities.

Connecticut Will Contest Lawyers

Sometimes, individuals or families will dispute a Will or the probating of an estate for a variety of reasons:

  • Belief that a member of the family exercised undue influence and forced the decadent to change a will
  • Allegations of breach of fiduciary duty
  • Belief that the will is fake, or void due to a later will
  • Questions as to why someone was not included in the will
  • Belief that someone is hiding assets

At Mark Sank & Associates, LLC, we represent beneficiaries, estate executors and other family members in will contest disputes. When you work with our attorneys, you can rest assured that we will aggressively assert your interests in probate litigation.
